This must be why Harley Quinn, our JRT, loves me, hehe.
So, apparently someone in British Columbia has been bombing oil pipelines, near Dawson Creek. It sounds like the work of people concerned about the environment, not that I blame them for that, but it's not necessarily the right way to go about changing things. Anyway, this story hasn't gotten any traction down here in the US that I've seen, there's been two bombings so far, and I find it weird that something that potentially effects the US, in terms of energy supply, is being un-reported. At any rate, link follows to CBC story about it. Pipeline bombings.
I am struck today, as I am most days, by the unbelievable conceit of humanity. The following video, which I urge you to watch, I first saw in 1982 when it originally aired, and it changed my thoughts about filmmaking and animals forever. There's a new episode as well, the second link, from last year. They were produced by the CBC for their investigative news programme, The Fifth Estate. I still remember how I felt seeing 'Cruel Camera' for the first time, how betrayed by the establishment of the entertainment industry, and how disappointed in people I'd grown up idolizing I was. I hope these are as much of an eye-opener now. The original Cruel Camera, from 1982
The 2007 update of Cruel Camera
I know this will come as a shock to absolutely noone, lol, but somehow I'm apparently Betty Page, whee! What Classic Pin-Up Are You? You're Bettie Page! Take this quiz!

I feel so old now!!!!! Holy cow, 39. Eep! Although the guy at the pub we went to for supper last night attempted to card me, lol. Anyway, got totally spoiled. I'll have to post some pics later today of the new king of all my toys, hehe. He's a 25" tall Balrog, who roars and lights up and has a 3' wingspan, lol! He's totally amazing. I have the best husband on earth, he knows me so well! lol! In other news, Logan is doing much better now. We're leaving him alone heartworm treatment-wise until it's time for his shots in January again when we'll get him re-tested for heartworm. Hopefully he won't need another treatment. But at least he can be back to acting like his old insane self until then, hehe. Harley is great as usual, although her toad count is up to around 23 now. She's built up a resistance to them. The more she gets poisoned by them, the more pissed off she gets at them. She's not a stupid dog, just really really stubborn, but that's what terriers are like. The hubby is doing well, work is insane at the moment, they've shipped one game addon this year, and another game is shipping in mid-October, so there's been lots of working late and stuff. It will be nice when crunch-time is over! On Wednesday we're going to see Henry Rollins speak, whee! I had the pleasure of seeing the Rollins Band during the first lollapalooza tour, but this is my first time hearing him speaking in person. Very excited!!!! Also in mid-October, taking my husband to see The Tragically Hip! Tickets were only $25. There's nowhere in Canada you could go to to see them for that little, so that was exciting, hehe! Basically that's the update. Oh! Go to Blaqk Audio's myspace page, listen to 'Stiff Kittens', great band!
I know, you were dying to know this...

My poor fuzzy boy! :( Our little fuzzy boy, Logan, was diagnosed Saturday with heart-worm. He's 2 1/2, so even though it's a light load, (they think he's had it since before we got him, but it takes 4 months to show up on tests, and he never got retested) we can't in good conscience leave it, as eventually they will damage his heart and lungs. However, when he began treatment Saturday with the 'weak' (about half strength) dose they start with, (the medication is, essentially, arsenic) he developed almost all of the really rare bad reaction side effects; heavy panting, excessive drooling, trouble walking, restlessness, etc. He's better now, but in a month he gets 2 full strength doses one day after the other. If he had all those reactions, what is even one full strength dose going to do to him, let alone two in a row? Also, they want to keep him in for the day, which I totally agree with, but he freaks out so very badly when he can't see us or his sister Harley, and has severe anxiety and panic when we're gone, so I don't know if that will make things worse. So I'm trying to learn all I can, but I'm just getting so bogged down in misery. I mean, he was rescued from a kill shelter by the rescue group we got him from, and was about to be put down. He had a hellish existence for the first 10 months of his life, given all the things he recognizes that he shouldn't, and he was a stray for a fair time before the kill shelter got him. He was a difficult boy for the first 8 months we had him, and we came perilously close to sending him back to the rescue group several times, (he ate our couch, a $100 mouse, an expensive watch, so much stuff, I can't even remember everything) but we stuck it out, and he's become one of the sweetest and most loving dogs I've ever known. He hasn't got a mean bone in his body. He so totally doesn't deserve this. Anyway, I had to vent a bit, my husband and I are trying to be positive and stuff, but it's getting very hard, this is going to be a very very long month, waiting. I have no clue what we'd do without him at this point, let alone little Harley, who had problems with him at first, but he's since become like her baby. Sorry for being so bleak and stuff, sigh.
Agh, stupid embed isn't working, sigh! I hate when that happens. I think it's just to further irk me the day before i go in to get my knee surgery knee checked out (it's been about 2 weeks since the surgery, yay, i'm sick of not being able to do anything, and the crutches are making the arthritis in my arms really bad, sigh) Anyway, was trying to post a link to here: Japan Street StyleEnjoy!

Ok, so it's my fave show on television right now, has been since it started, really. Now it's over for the year, but if you haven't watched this fantastic show yet, please check it out online. NBC has the entire season streaming now, so you can totally catch up! Also, they have a great new feature that lets you watch each character's storyline seperately. First up is Peter Petrelli. Please check this show out!!!
Though, I have to say, I miss Canada. Sigh. But that probably has a lot to do with how sick we've both been over the last few weeks. Sigh. It would be nice to be not sick for a holiday just once, you know? In a weirdly miraculous kinda event that only happens once a decade, I'm really into country music this week, no idea why, lol. So if you have any good suggestions let me know, hehe. Have to finish cleaning so i can put the little turkey on, whee! I love turkey. Yum! I'll let you all know how it turns out, hehe. Liz/Beth
Just had to post this, I might do a couple a week like this, but this is by far the best version of this song ever recorded, imo.
Wow what a long week it's been already! Of course this is partially due to me not having my proper antihisthamines, but hey. Our shower head broke today, argh!!! So have had to go back to the crappy one that was on here when Alaric moved in. Sigh. My ears are killing me. I'm having a very bad fibro day, and somehow, even after taking a sleeping pill, i'm not tired at all. I really need to sleep, I can't. Argh. Very frustrating.

Actually, if you have a dog, you really need to check this site out, it's a lot of fun and has great forums and things, as well as a regular 'ask the vet' feature and a lot more! Both our pups have pages here. There's a catster.com too! Tue, Mar. 14th, 2006, 12:10 pm New!
Hi again. Wow, twice in a week or so! Anyway, had to let everyone know that we have a new baby boy, Logan! You can see him here. He's super adorable, and a very good boy so far, although he developed Kennel Cough on the night we got him, so he's sick. :( Poor little guy. At any rate, wanted to post our new addition to everyone! Liz
Okie, going to try to remember to update this occaisionally, again! heh My dear husband fell asleep at 8:15ish, so I've been sitting here listening to depressing music for the last while, and contemplating what it would be like to have another dog, in addition to Harley. We're thinking about adopting another puppy, and I'd really like another one, but I don't want our first pup to feel all ookie. Is that lame? I mean, she'd love to have a playmate, but I don't know how well she'd react once she realized it was staying. I don't know, too much to think about tonight. Sigh Oh, Harley, our dog, has a Dogster page, you can see it here. It's like LJ, but for dogs. I really need to update her diary too. I'm so behind!!!
